Jadera Bugs

We have recently received numerous calls from customers who have noticed an abundance of red and black bugs in their landscapes. The bugs they are calling about are Scentless Plant Bugs or Jadera Bugs. These critters feed on the seeds of several types of trees found in our area, although they seem to prefer goldenrain trees.

So how do you get rid of them? We recommend removing their food source by raking away the seeds they are feeding on. If that’s not a practical option then you can always contact your pest control provider to exercise your chemical control options. And don’t worry about what might happen if you choose to do nothing. Aside from being a nuisance because of the shear number of them, Jadera bugs are generally beneficial. By feeding on tree seeds these bugs prevent hundreds of saplings from sprouting up. In fact the worst thing these little guys will do is stain your clothing if you happen to smash one on you.
