How To Get Rid Of Termites Or Treat Them?
How can you get rid or treat your house for Termites? I had a bag of mulch sitting in front of my house unopened for a while. This weekend I went to lay the mulch and seen all kinds of terminates inside. I tried my best to get rid of them and take them away from the house. I want to know what I can do to treat or what I can put around my house? I have a townhouse with siding. Is there something I can buy at the store and do myself?

Unfortunantly just moving the bag wont stop them. They have already established themselves underground. Was the bag sitting up against your foundation? If so I would have a professional come and do an inspection just to be safe. There are some termiticides that you can get at your local hardware and apply yourself but the residual isnt as good as the resticted use pesticides used by the professionals. I would suggest doing an outside only treatment even if your house gets an all clear from an inspector…just to be safe!

Termite chemicals are controlled so you have to have a license to get them. Call a professional exterminator.

I would highly recommend having a professional exterminating company that specializes in termite prevention. Some people prefer to wait until they SEE a problem and at this point, it might be too late. Termites can do a lot of damage that the untrained eye might not see. I would call a professional exterminator that you can get references for immediately and have your home treated. It’s too late to prevent termites but maybe you can prevent further damage if you have your home “treated”. There are several methods of treatment available and what we have is something that is very VERY successful in termite prevention which is called the “Sentricon system”. Sentricon is a baiting system that will be placed around the perimeter of your home OUTSIDE with “stations” that have a piece of wood in them. These stations are monitored on a regular basis for termite activity and will attract the termites to the bait stations instead of your home. I am not sure how the colonies are eliminated, but they are eliminated, thus preventing damage to your home. This is much better than having your home treated with invasive methods, such as drilling etc. You can read about it on the internet by typing in “sentricon” into your search engine.
This is not something you can do on your own, however. You need a professional and you need a professional NOW. Good luck.

call an exterminator. it’ll probably involve different toxic chemicals which you dont have experience with, so let a proffesional do it.
