that would be classed as hunting, its actualy illegal to kill pigeons at all if its not classed as vermin control. their not like game that can just be taken for eating.
so if you want to shoot a couple in your garden, plant a few strawberrys to protect
and get a .22 air rifle.

NO. It is illegal to use any stringed weapon to kill any animal in the UK.
An air weapon is suitable for a sitting pigeon and a shotgun is excellent for on the wing shooting.

I don’t think that is a good idea. The only problem with pegeons is their excrement. I guess the best way is to get its natural predators and let nature take is course. The most common would be some cats or owls.

i wouldnt use a crossbow they shoot very fast and if you miss who knows where that bolt may go…i suggest just getting a nice air rifle…it will be perfect
