Do Mice Know What Mouse Traps Are? ?
I put out some mouse traps and poison in my kitchen last night. This morning the mice had eaten the poison but none of the traps had been touched. Are mice clever enough to work out what they do? I put jam on some and cheese on others, do mice like eating these?
Cheers.

Most mice carry with them a handbook with most models of mousetrap and how to dis-arm them without jeopardising their safety or to take the bait without triggering the device. Of course, on occasion a mouse will find themself with an old copy of the manual that doesn’t include certain newer mousetraps, and then its curtains for mousie

I had this mouse in my kitchen for 3 weeks. It did not touch the mouse traps. The way I finally got it was late at night I heard it chewing on styrofoam and went into the kitchen and pulled out the drawer where it was and out it came. I then stepped on it. I have no idea why it liked to chew on the styrofoam. I had previously caught many a mouse in mouse trap, but this one preferred styrofoam for some odd reason. Strange mouse.

I don’t think you can call a mouse clever if it gets around a mouse trap to eat POISON. The jam and cheese on the other hand, that’s a smart mouse!

Everyone knows mice are very apt in classical mechanics, but totally incompetent in chemistry.

Oh yes you only ever catch the depressed ones who are playing russian roullette with their mates.

of course!
It’s like if you see a bottle of thinner (a poison) you won’t go near it, or maybe if you don’t know what thinner is. However, if you see a pizza and a coke you will go over and eat it as you know what it is and it is nice to you.
