Why Is There A Global Warming Section In Yahoo Answers When It Has Never Been Proven?

Scientists who believe in global warming have concluded that the future of the world is in danger and that global warming may contribute to a minimal (slight) acceleration of a normal process of natural disasters.
Therefore scientist who believe, such as a religion, is not a fact, but belief.
Therefore global warming may contribute, accelerate something that is happening on it’s own anyway, the word “may” does not imply a fact.
Therefore there is no global warming, and why is there a global warming section in yahoo answers?

There is a Global Warming section so we can talk about the issue, regardless which side of the issue we are on. In a healthy society, we can freely debate ideas, and may the best ideas win. Hopefully, through this interchange of ideas, we can all come to a deeper understanding of truth.
Global warming is a theory, and theories are a framework for explaining the world. A theory can never be proven. Just like religion can never be proven. But there are facts, which are verifiable, and they either fit the theory or they do not. Maybe in this forum someone will submit facts that will ultimately challenge the theory, and force us to come up with new, competing theories. That would be an advancement of science.
By the way, Yahoo Questions also has a section on religion and spirituality.

Wait, just because people aren’t sure of something doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist. If that were the case, whenever a crime occurred and the police had suspects, their defense would be “I may have done it, therefore I didn’t do it.” The planet has gone through multiple climate changes throughout history, and we may or may not be having an impact on the planet going through one now, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be something that people discuss or have questions about. When you say something can’t be simply because people aren’t sure of what can or cannot occur, you close your mind off to the potential of new ideas and innovations.

Lets be grateful to yahoo answers for giving us a forum to voice our voice. If not for the internet the only source of info on this topic would have been the sensationalist left wing media.
One has to wonder at to of the answers on this question. One the one hand they claim the debate is over, and when asked for proof that global warming is mad made and will become catastrophic, they say there is no absolute proof in science. But if there is no absolute proof in science, then why are proponents so close minded to new evidence that comes in, and why do they try to stifle debate?

You really should consider taking a basic course in science. You seem greatly confused about it.
All science is tentative. As new evidence comes in, theories are either adjusted, strengthened, or disproved. Nothing ever becomes absolute truth in the realm of science.
Despite your assertion, scientists do not use the term “believe” like you are suggesting. A much more appropriate phrase for the position of the worlds climate scientists would be that they have “been convinced by the preponderance of evidence”. You, on the other hand, “believe” that they are all wrong.

What has not been proven? Physics? Just because NO ONE can PROVE why light travels at the speed it does, does that mean we should not teach the “Theory of Light” in school? If NO ONE can prove why gravity behaves the ways that it does, should we stop “believing” in the “Theory of Gravity”? Can you replicate the “Theory of Plate Tetonics”in your bathtub? There are a lot of things in the Universe that can only be explained by either a Scienctific Theory, or just saying a [god] did it. Take your pick.

Wow, what a confused question. Nothing is ever “proven” in science–if it were then we’d stop doing science. If you believe something based on massive amounts of evidence, that is not religion, it is good sense.
Ken’s advice is excellent–take some basic science courses.

because they drink the obama/al gore/democrat kool-aid, or haven’t you noticed?

  8. EARRRR's OBAMA Says:

Global warming is real- Manmade global warming has not been proven.

Good point. Lets protest about getting a global cooling section!
