I just moved into a dorm/apartment room in Boston and last night I heard and saw mice rummaging through our trash in the kitchen. Its just one big room so I am worried it will get into my bed somehow…will it?? Also, what is the best mouse trap to catch them? I can not sleep!

I put out some mouse traps and poison in my kitchen last night. This morning the mice had eaten the poison but none of the traps had been touched. Are mice clever enough to work out what they do? I put jam on some and cheese on others, do mice like eating these?

don’t want to kill them, just get rid of them

Since my 7yo daughter is such an animal lover, I would rather use “live catch” traps to avoid killing them, then put them in a cage and twice a week take any mice caught into the woods and let her release them.
If they will follow me home and re-infest my basement though, then the “kind” option is a waste of time and they will have to die.

We have a mouse in our house that keeps removing peanut butter from a set trap without setting it off. The trap is extremely sensitive and has worked in the past!

Traps don’t seem very effective. I actually saw a mouse run across several traps without springing them! It would seem easier to keep them from coming in to begin with, than to get rid of them once the are inside. There is no food in the garage, but there are lots of mice. Do the electronic “pest eliminators” actually work? I don’t have a problem killing them (I have been using Deacon) but don’t like smelling dead mice inside walls etc. (This happened last week.) I can’t figure out where they are getting in, but we have had an ongoing problem with them. My house has a basement, not just a crawl space. A cat wouldn’t work because I have 2 large dogs.

I have mice in my loft-space,. how should I place the traps, WHERE should I place them, and lastly, I am unable to afford getting any pest control people to sort it. Plus there doesn’t YET appear to be any major problem with the numbers of mice as there’s only the rare noise coming from the loft.

How can I get rid of it without traps?
I mean my room is relatively clean (a few bits of paper but that’s it) so how? Shall I leave a piece of food outside and get ‘em out?
